MUROBOND Murowash is our most popular decorative finish for interior and exterior feature walls. Made by Australian company Murobond. It has a subtle texture that creates rich depth of colour and slight tonal variations when applied.

Suitable: for interior and exterior use on masonry, cement render, bricks, plasterboard, timber and previously painted surfaces. Ideal for creating rich colour walls with slight tonal variations.

Appearance: is matt colour with slight tonal variations depending on the application technique and colour depth. Strong colours show more variation than light colours. It has as a fine, slightly grainy texture. Sand can be added for more noticeable texture.
Colours: See Murowash colours here. Note online colours may vary on different screens, so sample pots can be purchased to test colours in your setting.
We use low VOC tints to retain the low VOC status of Murowash. Tinting is priced according to the amount of tint so you will need to select which group your colour is in (ie. light mid or strong). We will let you know if there needs to be any correction to price before processing your order.
Odour: very low odour.
VOC: 10 gm/L
Durability: long lasting and durable but not as easily cleanable as a low sheen finish due to the slightly grainy texture. Can be coated with MUROBOND Clear Acrylic Sealer in interior situations where more serviceability is required.
Vapour Permeability: is good
Priming: is required for all bare substrates. Use MUROBOND Primer tinted towards the Murowash colour. Priming is not needed on previous acrylic paint in sound condition, however Murowash has a slight translucent quality so if the previous surface is a very different colour, a coat of tinted primer is recommended.
Application: is with a large MUROBOND brush in a random pattern. This creates the tonal movement and quality of the finish. A roller can be used to apply the paint as long as it is followed immediately by someone brushing it randomly. Apply in dry conditions above 10 degrees C and below 30 degrees C.
Decorative: yes, good for feature walls. Sand can also be added for a more textured finish.
Drying: is 12 hours between coats in good drying conditions.
Coverage: is approximately 10 sq.m/L per coat.
Coats: is generally two over a tinted primer
