Otsumigaki means polished and compressed in Japanese. An elegant alternative to painted walls ROCKCOTE Otsumigaki is a thin clay & lime plaster that creates texture walls with a smooth polished surface and subtle pearlescent lustre.

Suitable: for high traffic interior walls including stairwells, halls and entrance ways. Not suitable for exterior or wet areas. Has a dry film build of 1-2mm.
Odour: is nil
VOC: zero
Colour: is a soft off-white.  It can be tinted with powdered oxides or liquid tints
Appearance: a rustic, smooth, or polished lustre finish can be achieved. 
Durability: tough, durable finish.
Vapour Permeability: is superb. Clay allows surfaces to breathe and can help improve indoor air quality.
Application: Otsumigaki is supplied as a wet mix in a bucket ready to apply with a Stainless Steel trowel and polish with a Flexible trowel. It is applied in 2 thin coats each 0.5 - 1mm thick, and when dry can be polished with ROCKCOTE Liquid Carnauba Wax. Apply in temperatures above 5'C and below 35'C.
ROCKCOTE recommends Otsumigaki is applied only by highly skilled and licensed tradespeople with extensive experience in these products. It is the responsibility of the applicator to understand the application method and procedure involved for each substrate, in order to obtain a satisfactory outcome. 
Preparation: the substrate needs to be sound, clean and installed according to the building code so there is no movement of the substrate. Any base coats should be fully cured. ROCKOTE Natural Materials Systems Guide outlines the correct priming and procedure for different substrates. ROCKCOTE will also prepare a custom specification for each project. Simply fill out this form with the details of your project to request this. 
Coats: 2 coats wet on wet
Drying Time: 30 – 60 mins before second coat. Final dry 1- 2 days.
Coverage: 20m2/15L @ 1mm thickness
