DuroGrit is a sustainable, wood-fibre fortified and water-soluble oil that colours and protects all exterior wood in 1 single layer. The FibreGrit Technology, where added wood fibres give the oil its unique structure, provides the perfect combination of a penetrating and breathable monocoat system.

Thanks to this technology, the product not only has incredible and long-lasting UV protection compared to other exterior wood finishing products, but it’s also extremely durable and wear resistant.

Suitable: for exterior timber cladding, decks, fences, shutters, doors, garden furniture, children's toys etc. Can also be used interior. Protects against greying and wood rot. See Zero VOC and ecological certificates

Durability: expect up to 12 months in horizontal exposure before maintenance is required, and 2 - 3 years in sheltered or vertical situations. This is a low build, penetrating product so never requires stripping or sanding. Simply apply a thin maintenance coat. 
Vapour Permeability: vapour permeable
Application : new and old wood must be cleaned first with RUBIO MONOCOAT Exterior Wood Cleaner then rinsed well and allowed to dry for 24 hrs. This removes some of the natural tannins and oils in timber so the Hybrid Wood Protector can penetrate and bond with the surface raw wood. If this step is skipped insufficient product may be absorbed. 

Apply Durogrit with a soft, synthetic brush made for water-based products. Work in the direction of the wood installation always covering the full length. 

Maintenance : very easy to maintain. Horizontal surfaces such as decks in full exposure will require maintenance more often than vertical surfaces. Horizontal surfaces in full exposure may require a top up coat annually. 

Other areas such as vertical panels or those not in full exposure may last 2 - 4 years before requiring a refresh coat as above.

If the timber has started to grey or has stains, clean again with RUBIO MONOCOAT Exterior Wood Cleaner before applying the refresh coat of Hybrid wood Protector. If not, cleaning with water is sufficient. 

The appearance and longevity of the finish can be enhanced between refresh coats by periodically cleaning with RUBIO MONOCOAT Exterior Soap or Exterior Refresh Spray. These products nourish as well as clean the surface. 

NOTE: As expressed in the application, the longevity of the original coat will be much longer if the preparatory Exterior Wood Cleaner is used.

Drying: water resistant after 1 - 3 hrs. Full cure 3 days 
Coverage: Approximately 8-15 sq.M/L depending on type of wood, weathering and preparation.
