ROCKCOTE Velvetina is a versatile fine-grained lime plaster with a matt appearance. It can be used for various artistic finishes that combine texture and colour layers, or used as a smooth hard base coat for ROCKCOTE Venetian Plaster.
Suitable: for interior walls and feature walls, and as a base coat for Venetian Plaster on Gyprock or cement fibre board. It is not suitable for wet areas, shower recesses, bench tops, or splashbacks.
Appearance: is a smooth matt low lustre finish, or a textured wall such as bamboo and travertine, or artistic colour layers.
Colours: natural white but can be tinted to a wide range of colours using liquid tints
VOC: is zero. However protection should be worn when mixing and applying as lime is highly alkaline.
Odour: low to no odour
Durability: lime forms a hard long lasting surface, but all decorative finishes will require care to maintain them. Various sealers can be used in vulnerable areas.
Water resistance: excellent
Application: is with a stainless steel trowel 0.5 - 1mm thick. Apply in temperatures above 5'C and below 35'C.
ROCKCOTE recommends Velvetina is applied only by highly skilled and licensed tradespeople with extensive experience in these products. It is the responsibility of the applicator to understand the application method and procedure involved for each substrate, in order to obtain a satisfactory outcome.
Preparation: the substrate needs to be sound, clean and installed according to the building code so there is no movement of the substrate. Any base coats should be fully cured. ROCKOTE Natural Materials Systems Guide outlines the correct priming and procedure for different substrates. ROCKCOTE will also prepare a custom specification for each project if requested.
Drying time: dry to recoat approximately 12 hrs
Coverage: is approximately 30sq.m /15L in one coat 0.5 - 1mm thick
Coats: 1 coat as a base coat or 2 coats as a finish.
Seal: with Liquid Carnauba Wax, or Repel
