The biggest change to modern paints is the development of water-based enamels.
Oil-based enamels are extremely high in VOC's - up to 350gms/L - which is why they are so smelly and are a major source of environmental air pollution. Using modern water-based enamels makes a huge difference to the health of the painter, the occupants of a house, and to our environment.
Painted Earth offer two water-based acrylic enamels - ROCKOTE Ecostyle Satin and Gloss, and one water based natural enamel - VOLVOX ProAqua Enamel.
ROCKCOTE Ecostyle Satin and Gloss contain less than 3g/L VOC - which is the lowest of any water-based acrylic enamel on the Australian market. They perform equally as well as oil based enamel and are very economical to use.
VOLVOX ProAqua Enamel as a natural enamel and zero VOC. However it is a lot more expensive than acrylic enamels so is usually prohibitive on large jobs. It is ideal for people with high chemical sensitivity or for small projects such as a baby's cot.
MUROBOND Bridge Paint is a water based decorative metallic paint that is ideal for feature trim or walls.
A metallic iron oxide paint which adds a sleek metallic look to feature walls or trim. A great compliment to interior and exterior schemes.
A pearlescent paint with gold and silver highlights. Create art on feature walls, trim and furniture with this fun decorative paint. Prime with tinted Murobond primer. 2 or more coats required.
A high quality water based enamel paint. Lower in VOC's and much preferable to using oil based enamels. It can be used both interior and exterior.
